TESS says, ‘with my big ears you don’t need to shout, I hear you’.

TESS is a 1-2 year old; spayed female Border Collie. At a slim 40 lbs, she sports red/white smooth coat which is easy care and cool in summer heat! TESS is a lovely and busy girl  who will do best in an active home. She is a little unsure of new experiences and initially needs some human encouragement  to help  build confidence . This can also be achieved through a pack-mate if she is adopted into a home with other dogs. As you build trust TESS becomes your constant companion 'helping' you throughout the day. The puppy in TESS shows up as she enjoys new experiences, life is a continual discovery!

As TESS is just starting to learn some basic commands she appears to be respond to verbal praise and toy rewards. She walks very nice on loose lease and takes her cues from you, her alpha. Going for a walk on lead is a new experience for her. Distractions are around every corner so short walks are best and can lengthen as she acclimates. TESS gets along well with her pack-mates, playing nonstop with them, though sometimes can be a bit rowdy with them. She loves her person and is always up for some petting and a tummy tickle. She has not been exposed to cats in her foster home so that is still a mystery question. She has a good recall, is smart (learned her name in 2 days!). She alarm barks when strangers come calling, but settles down when called off.

TESS is crate trained and is quiet in her crate overnight. She appears to be housebroken having had no accidents in her foster home. She has learned to use a doggie door, smart girl! She has exhibited no bad behavior like excessive barking or digging, and although she was a bit too busy chewing the crate bedding she has learned to chew only the deer antlers and toys given to her by her foster parents. Balls are a favorite toy and a game that she excels at. She is not toy possessive or food aggressive, she is rather laid back and easy going.

TESS rides well in the car and loves to go for a drive. She settles nicely when the activity at home is quiet time or TV watching.  When the hour grows late she can be found asleep in her crate having put herself to bed. Shy but sweet describes our TESS. A good companion, friend, buddy, pal - she is packed and ready for new adventures in her new forever home with her family.  Get that application in! TESS is waiting.

TESS is micro-chipped, spayed, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations.
