Please read the following summary of how our adoption program works. This will save you time and prevent possible misunderstandings should you locate an “available” dog but find you may not be able to meet the dog presently.
To enquire about specific dogs in our rescue, you must first have submitted am Adoption Application and received back from us an email confirmation of it being approved. If you have not submitted an Adoption Application, please do so now. In the spirit of mutual support, Border Collie Rescue of Northern California has offered to forward applications from their applicants who also wish to consider adopting a dog from us. Please let us know if you have an application with BCRNC and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.
Please note this initial Adoption Application approval is general in nature. After you enquire about a specific dog, we compare your situation with the needs of that dog. We are tasked with matching dogs and prospective owners based on our experience and understanding of the breed. Some dogs may have adoption requirements for which we may feel you may not be a primary match. Rest assured however, if a dog you are initially keen on is not matched to you there will follow many dogs for your consideration.
Dogs available for adoption from Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions can be found on our Adoption Gallery web pages -
If you would like to enquire about or meet one of our dogs, click on the Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org email link on each dog’s web page and send us a brief message to let us know you are interested in this dog. Please send separate emails for each dog as the emails are likely to be distributed to different foster homes. Foster homes are typically located from Stockton northward, but may from time to time be outside of this area.
When you submit an email enquiry on a dog, we will forward your contact information along with your application to the foster home. The foster home will promptly acknowledge your enquiry and provide you with the availability status of the dog. The foster home will likely converse with you via phone or email to get a more complete understanding of your situation. At this point much depends on the adoption status of the dog. In many cases you will be invited to come meet the dog at its foster home, or you may be informed someone has a meeting ahead of you and you will be updated shortly on whether the dog was adopted. We may also decide that particular dog’s needs do not match your situation and may suggest a different dog.
Thank you for reading through this preface to adopt. Now get ready to find and fall in love with your new border collie! Follow the Adoption Gallery photo links below to see the dogs being fostered with our rescue. Depending on the number of dogs available, there may be one or more galleries to view.
When you visit the Adoption Gallery dogs are not presented in any order and we may move dogs around to vary their exposure. We recommend you review the Adoption Gallery with each visit. (Please note, Twiggie pictured above is our Adoption Gallery ambassador. Twiggie was adopted early on and is no longer available. Sorry!)
