RINGO is a beautiful rough coat, 7-month-old, male border collie. He is a tall, lean 40 pound boy, who is still very puppy-like in his antics. He is very smart and learns quickly and is on his way with commands and overall learning. He knows sit, rides well in the car and walks comfortably on lead (but will need training to heel if you wish more formal leash work). He loves his toys, walks, playing ball, and has taken to swimming in the creek and he loves to splash about and lay in the kiddie pool on these hot summer days! Being young he is quite enthusiastic and would benefit from a basic obedience class. Enjoy this YouTube video of RINGO at play.
He appears to be housebroken, but as with any young dog he should be kept on a potty schedule and monitored during free time in the house. He has very nice manners for a dog his age, but he is still a puppy so expect some mischief. He does well in his crate with a minimum of fuss. Mostly he just wants to play, have fun and hang with his people. RINGO loves dogs and will vocalize when he sees another dog. He has a "big boy bark" but is not aggressive and just wants to play. He will alarm bark, but he is not a barker in general. We have not met children but every time he sees one, he is full of wags and wiggles.
Being a young border collie, RINGO takes an interest in things that move. Squirrels, bicycles, scooters, and small animal grab his attention. He has been cat curious and his exuberant playfulness (aka rough-housing) could be an issue with little dogs. With that said, he would do well with another dog in the family of similar stature, a playmate and someone who can show him the ropes.
All in all RINGO is a lovely boy. He needs his playtime and walks. He would thrive with an active family that likes to go to the beach or take hikes in the woods. He might make an excellent agility dog or do well with any games that include balls or frisbees; however, he is not obsessive with his behavior.
RINGO is micro-chipped, neutered, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations.
